OUR GOATS

Sunny Sister Farm- Nigerian Dwarf Goats

Breeder Focus

At Sunny Sister Farm, we’re building a herd of ADGA-registered Nigerian Dwarf dairy goats with a focus on sound structure, proven dairy qualities, and gentle, personable temperaments.
Though our herd is still young, our commitment runs deep - to raise goats that are healthy, productive, and true to the best of the breed.

Our long-term goals include improving conformation, milk production, and breed character through careful pairing, participation in ADGA programs, and a dedication to preserving the integrity of this exceptional breed.

Herd Development

Linear Appraisal: We’ve hosted ADGA linear appraisal on our farm, giving us valuable feedback that helps shape our breeding decisions and strengthen our herd foundation.

Milk Testing: Our goal is to participate in official milk testing and earn stars on our does, showcasing the creamy, high-butterfat milk Nigerian Dwarfs are known for.

Pedigrees: Many of our goats come from respected lines with proven dairy genetics - the kind that bring lasting quality and consistency to future generations.

Herd Management & Health Practices

Our herd is closed for biosecurity and peace of mind. The only goats we’ve introduced have come from Antiquity Oaks Farm, a highly reputable breeder whose quality and management standards align with our own.
We do not show our goats, so they remain here on the farm, with movement limited only between our two family properties - one where our milkers are kept, and another where our bucks reside. Separating the bucks helps keep our milk flavor clean and mild, something our family especially appreciates.

We have chosen not to vaccinate, as our herd remains healthy with minimal outside exposure. Routine veterinary care, clean facilities, and close observation keep our goats thriving. We’re happy to accommodate buyers who wish to have CAE or Johne’s testing done at their expense before purchase.

Deworming is done only when necessary, and we emphasize natural management and observation over routine chemical treatments.
Our kids are dam-raised whenever possible, as they learn important grazing and browsing habits from their mothers - including which plants are safe to eat and which to avoid. For larger litters, such as quads, we supplement with bottle feeding to ensure every kid receives enough milk while maintaining close contact with mom.

This thoughtful, hands-on approach allows us to raise confident, healthy, and well-socialized goats while maintaining a natural balance in our herd.

Our Approach

Spring brings a busy rhythm to the farm as our goats kid just as our family nursery begins to bloom. Even with full days of planting, watering, and tending, our focus on herd management never wavers.

We strive for goats that excel in the milk pail and the show ring, but more importantly, goats that thrive in health, temperament, and longevity. Every decision we make - from nutrition to pairing - reflects our dedication to building a herd we’re proud to stand behind.

Goats & Sustainability

Our goats are more than livestock - they’re an essential part of the circle of life on our farm. Acting as natural brush control, they help manage overgrowth and invasive plants, reducing fire risk and encouraging healthy pasture growth.

Their nutrient-rich manure and bedding are composted and returned to our gardens and greenhouse soil, boosting fertility, structure, and microbial life. The results are tangible: vibrant flowers, productive vegetables, and strong, resilient soil.

In this way, the goats give back to the land that sustains them - creating a balanced ecosystem where both plants and animals flourish.

The Benefits of Goat Milk

We first fell in love with Nigerian Dwarfs for their gentle personalities and delicious milk - naturally rich, creamy, and easier to digest than cow’s milk. Goat milk’s smaller fat globules and unique protein structure make it a wonderful choice for people with mild lactose sensitivities.
It’s also packed with essential nutrients like calcium, potassium, and vitamin A.

Goats Offered

From time to time, we make a limited number of goats available:

  • Registered breeding stock for herds looking to strengthen genetics

  • Performance-quality does for show or milk programs

  • Wethers and companions for families and hobby farms

Each goat is raised with care and handled daily - so they leave our farm friendly, healthy, and well-adjusted.

Our Commitment

As we continue to grow, we’re committed to transparency in our herd goals and progress. Whether you’re looking for your next show prospect, herd sire, or family milker, we’d love to connect and help you find the right fit.

Sunny Sister Farm is built on a foundation of family, sustainability, and a genuine love for these little goats. We’re honored to share that joy - one happy hoof at a time.
